Ruled By Gratitude Week 2 – Give Thanks in All Things

1 Thessalonians 5:18 “In everything give thanks; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”

Gratitude in Every Circumstance

Paul’s command to “give thanks in everything” is both breathtaking and impossible apart from grace. He is not calling us to deny pain or ignore hardship, but to trust that God’s providence runs deeper than our understanding.

Gratitude doesn’t mean we give thanks for all things, but in all things. We thank God not because every situation is good, but because He is good in every situation. Even when life shakes, His mercy stands firm.

This kind of thanksgiving can only come from a heart anchored in the gospel. The believer who knows the cross knows that no circumstance can cancel the goodness of God. Gratitude, then, becomes a confession of faith — a declaration that the Lord who saved us will sustain us still.

It is one thing to give thanks when the table is full, but it is another to give thanks when the cup seems empty. Yet Scripture calls us to both, because in both, Christ is enough.

Gratitude is not a feeling we chase – it’s obedience we choose. To thank God in all things is to declare that He is worthy in all seasons. Gratitude is how faith breathes when life gets hard.
Keep thanking Him — it’s how your soul remembers who holds it.
